We’re working hard on making iTypeFastR compatible with the new iPhone 3.0 OS.
Offcourse first the Jailbreak has to be out for this to be possible. We expect to have a 3.0 compatible version one week after the jailbreak is available, so we are now aiming for June 26th.
We fixed two things in version 1.11:
- the enter key on the numeric screen has the right sensitivity area (the area was too small
- iTypeFastR works correctly in thirs party apps again, also when iKeyEx keyboards are installed
Looking at the referral stats - the sites where trffic comes from - is pretty cool in the morning. Today’s surprise: Fusi0n.org has a top ten of most favourite Jailbroken apps, and we’re on number 5!!
After wednesday, a lot of people retweeted the article on MacWorld, and it showed up on PC World and tech.yaho.com as well. Suprisingly, the most visitors to our site out of those three came from tech,yahoo.com
Wednesday night was one of the coolest times with iTypeFastR. I was in bed already, but couldn’t sleep. I checked Twitter once more, and saw this tweet from @iskandr, one of our first beta testers:
Which as you might guess means: hey @aksie iTypeFastR is on MacWorld, have you seen?!
So I jumped out of bed, checked the Macworld, en yesss! we’re on it: iTypeFastR on MacWorld: “iTypeFastr jailbreak app helps speed iPhone typing”
And we could see that i the downloads!
Functional additions:
We added as much stuff as we could in a week, that you guys asked for in the Uservoice forum:
- We added ‘&’ on the numeric screen (slide up on ‘+’)
- We added ‘%’ on the numeric screen (slide up on ‘*’)
- We added ‘₤’ on the numeric screen (slide up on ‘€’)
- We added ‘^’, ‘~’ ‘|’ and ‘\’ while we were at it
- We added the emoticons 
and :-p and :-s and 
Keep giving us input, we’re looking if how and when we can add your other requests!
Bug fixes, etc.:
- We improved the cooperation with the Skype app
- We improved the third party support.
Wow, we just reached 20.00 users! Not downloads, which also counts upgrades, but 20.000 unique device ID’s which installed iTypeFastR. Another miletone. YEAH!!!
Last night we found a bug that impacted around 1% of our users. It took a while before we could replicated it, because such a small group had the issue. We were able to fix it and the update is now live on Cydia.
Just go to Cydia, it’ll prompt you to upgrade. Do it, and the issue is fixed!
Thanks to Nils Rooijmans, who gave us all de data dumps from his device, Mason and Gary fixing it, and BigBoss for pointing the way for an acceptable package for the repository.
At the time of the launch we got some great press from two major Dutch sites.
Lifehacking.nl wrote about it, and loves it. So did iPhoneclub.nl , who is very positive, but did have a bit of a learning curve, and is still getting used to position of the ‘L’
We had a great launch today at The Next Web.
It started with Frank Meeuwsen from LifeHacking explaining to a random passer by how great iTypeFastR is, which was amazing.
I was quite happy with my one minute at the stage to announce the launch as well.
